Common questions
What stops you from reading notes yourselves?
Your note is encrypted directly in your browser using your password, which is never sent to us. Our servers only receive encrypted data, meaning we physically cannot read your notes without your password.
What happens if I forget a note's password?
The note is gone. There is no reset link, no recovery question and no override, because any of those would require us to hold a key. Keep the password somewhere safe before you rely on a note.
Is Inkrypt really free, and how is it funded?
Inkrypt is free to use and there is no paid tier. Editorial pages — the blog, the guides and pages like this one — carry advertising. The note editor and shared-note screens never do.
How do I report a security problem?
Email the address on our responsible disclosure page. We would rather hear about a flaw from you than read about it later, and we will tell you what we changed.
