These terms and conditions explain how you may use Inkrypt, what we provide, and what responsibilities apply to both you and us.

Agreement to Terms
By accessing or using Inkrypt at www.inkrypt.online, you agree to these Terms of Service and our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the service.

Service Description
Inkrypt provides a free encrypted online notepad that lets you create, store, and share notes using client-side encryption. Notes are encrypted in your browser before being sent to our servers. We do not require account registration to use the core service.
You can also create secure share links with optional passwords, expiry times, and view limits. When a share link reaches its expiry or its view limit, our servers stop serving that note and the link no longer opens.
One detail worth knowing before you name a note: the note's name becomes part of its web address and is not encrypted. Only the body of a note is encrypted, so avoid putting sensitive detail in the name itself.
The service is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis. We may update, modify, or discontinue features at any time to improve security, performance, or usability.
Data Retention & Deletion
Notes remain stored on our servers as encrypted data until you delete them. Expiry times and view limits control availability: once a share reaches its limit, the link stops working. The encrypted share record is not currently removed from our database automatically, and we run no scheduled process that deletes it, so the accurate description is that the note becomes unavailable rather than erased.
If you have the correct password for a note, you can delete it at any time. Once deleted, that note's encrypted data is removed from our database and cannot be recovered. A share link is stored as a separate encrypted snapshot, so deleting the note does not retract a link you have already sent — that share continues under its own expiry and view limit.
Because note content is encrypted client-side, we cannot read what you write. We may still delete stored encrypted data to prevent abuse or enforce these terms.
Acceptable Use
You agree not to use Inkrypt to:
- Upload, share, or distribute illegal content
- Harass, threaten, or harm others
- Distribute spam or phishing content
- Attempt to gain unauthorized access to our systems or other users' data
- Abuse the service through automated scraping, flooding, or denial-of-service activity
- Infringe intellectual property or privacy rights of others
We reserve the right to delete stored encrypted data or restrict access when we believe these terms have been violated or when necessary to protect the service and its users.
Your Responsibilities
- You are responsible for passwords you set on notes and for keeping share links secure.
- Because encryption happens in your browser, we cannot recover lost passwords or decrypt notes if you forget your credentials.
- You need an active internet connection to create, read, edit, or share notes.
- You are responsible for ensuring that your use of the service complies with applicable laws in your jurisdiction.
Analytics
We may use Google Analytics or similar tools to understand how the site is used and to improve performance. These services may collect anonymous usage data such as page visits, browser type, and device information.
Intellectual Property
The Inkrypt name, logo, site design and published writing — including the articles, feature pages, glossary and security documentation — belong to us and are protected by copyright. You may read, quote and link to them; you may not republish them wholesale as your own.
What you write stays yours. Creating a note gives us no ownership of it and no licence to use it, which would be difficult in any case: the content arrives encrypted and we cannot read it. We only ever hold the ciphertext needed to return the note to whoever has the password.

Availability, Suspension & Ending Use
Inkrypt is free and offered without an uptime commitment. Maintenance, hosting problems and changes to the service can all interrupt access, and we do not promise that a note will be reachable at a particular moment. If a note matters to you, keep your own copy of the content somewhere you control.
Because there are no accounts, there is nothing to close. You stop using the service by no longer using it, and you can delete individual notes yourself while you have their passwords.
On our side, we may block access, remove stored data or withdraw features where we believe the terms above have been broken, where we are required to by law, or where doing so protects the service and the people using it.
Disclaimers & Limitation of Liability
While we use industry-standard encryption and take security seriously, no online service can guarantee absolute security. You use Inkrypt at your own risk.
To the fullest extent permitted by law, we shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages arising from your use of the service, including loss of data, lost passwords, or unauthorized access resulting from user actions.
